There are stories in this family that live in exactly one person. You.

Nobody thinks to ask until it is too late to ask. You do not have to wait to be asked.

This is a book you fill in yourself, in your own handwriting, at your own pace — and hand to them when you are ready. One question at a time, on the days you feel like it.

Room to actually write. 203 pages for 143 questions — and 29 of those questions get a full two-page spread to themselves. Most memory journals do the opposite: twice the questions, half the room.

Made for older eyes and hands. Large 13–14pt prompts, wide lines, and uncoated paper that takes an everyday pen without bleeding through.

Questions that don't assume. Nothing here assumes marriage, children, faith, or an easy life — and gentler questions sit between the harder ones. Skip anything you like. One question a week is plenty. Skipping is built into how the book is written, not an apology for it.

Why write it yourself

Because the version they would get from asking is not the version you would tell. A question asked over Sunday dinner gets a short answer. The same question, alone, with a pen and no one waiting — that gets the truth.

Seven parts take you from where you came from to what you would want them to know. The last pages hold your signature and a place for the family who will read your words for years after.

A few of the questions inside

  • What did that house smell like?
  • What did your mother's hands look like?
  • What did you believe at twenty that you still believe?
  • What are you proud of that you have never said out loud?
  • If you could leave them with one sentence, what would it be?

How people use it

  1. Keep it where you sit in the evening — beside the chair, not on a shelf.
  2. Answer one question when you feel like it. There is no order you have to follow.
  3. Skip anything you would rather not answer. Nobody is checking.
  4. Sign the last page when you are ready, and decide who gets it.

Questions before you order

Other memory journals list 300 questions. Why does this one have 143?
Because the number that matters is not how many questions a book asks - it is how many she actually finishes. This one is 203 pages for 143 questions, and 29 of them get a full two-page spread. A 154-page book with 325 questions gives her about half a page each. We would rather she answer 40 questions properly than leave 300 half-written.
Does she have to fill every page?
Not at all. One question a week is plenty, and skipping is built into how the book is written - not an apology for it.
What if she does not like to write much?
A sentence is a real answer. So is a list. The book says so on the first page.
Is it easy to write in?
Yes - large 13-14pt type, wide lines, and uncoated paper made for everyday pens.
When will it arrive?
Each book is printed to order just for you. Your estimated delivery date is shown at checkout.
Can I send it straight to her?
Yes. Enter her address as the shipping address at checkout and the book goes directly to her.
What if something is wrong with it?
Our 30-Day Promise: if it arrives damaged or misprinted - or you simply change your mind - email support@graceyears.com within 30 days for a replacement or full refund. You keep the book; there is nothing to ship back.
